Brian is the Vice President of Operations at AFN. In his role, he oversees the Operations and LTL teams and focuses on ensuring operational excellence and supporting account management. Brian first joined AFN in 2005 as a summer intern. Since then, he has held several positions within the company, including leading Carrier Sales and Operations, and has become a key leader within the business. Brian earned a BA in communication and media studies and a minor in business from Indiana University Bloomington.
Executive Vice President of Business Development
As our Executive Vice President of Business Development, Brian leads our Customer Sales Team in identifying new business opportunities and creating innovative, value-add supply chain solutions that help drive the success of our customers. With more than 20 years of experience, Brian has built a strong and successful sales and leadership background in the logistics industry. Brian also brings with him a passion for continuous learning and many years of leadership experience in mentoring, teaching, and coaching sales and account management teams. Brian joined AFN in 2015. He earned a BS in supply chain management from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, which is the top supply chain management program in the U.S.
Vice President of Strategic Business Initiatives
Jeff has been a proud part of AFN since its founding in 2003. His role in the AFN organization today is unique: he is primarily focused on developing AFN’s people, both personally and professionally. Jeff’s contributions are distinct from his colleagues in Human Resources, in that he serves as a coach, mentor, and sounding board for each and every AFN team member. Jeff has a deep, 40-year career within the manufacturing retail, sales, product development, and logistics space. He leverages this knowledge to help foster a high-performance, results-oriented culture at AFN that keeps the needs of our customers first and foremost. Jeff earned a BA in political science from Washington University in St. Louis.
Vice President of Talent
As our Vice President of Talent, Lisa leads our HR and talent function, with a focus on talent acquisition, talent development, and retention initiatives. Lisa joined the AFN team in 2018. She earned a B.S. in Marketing from Miami University’s Farmer School of Business.
Vice President of Finance & Accounting
Owen serves as AFN’s CEO. In his role, he is focused on ensuring that AFN is fully aligned with the business needs of our clients, in order to ensure we are delivering exceptional service and enabling them to reach their strategic goals. Owen joined AFN early in the company’s history as a carrier sales representative, but then went on to pursue a career in finance with positions of increasing responsibility with AEI and Robert W. Baird. Following his finance career, Owen co-founded Salmon Cove, a classic apparel brand. He rejoined AFN in 2015. He currently serves on the board of Rock Capital Partners, a real estate private investment company, and is an advisor to Calco Controls, a manufacturing service business. Owen earned a BS in finance from the University of Dayton and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Vice President of Information Technology
Peter serves as the head of IT for AFN. He has more than 20 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting IT solutions in manufacturing, telecommunications and healthcare companies. He has built, managed, and mentored teams across multiple disciplines in IT including software developers, business analysts, networking engineers, system administrators, telecommunications administrators, and business intelligence architects. Peter applies this broad range of experience to creating systems that strengthen AFN’s relationship with both customers and carriers. He joined AFN in 2014. Peter earned a BA in computer studies from Northwestern University.
Vice President of Customer Supply Chain
As AFN’s Vice President, Customer Supply Chain, Rachal leads the Supply Chain Solutions team in identifying and implementing joint customer and AFN initiatives that drive profitability, efficiency, and best-in-class service standards. Prior to joining AFN, Rachal most recently served as Sr. Manager, Customer Supply Chain for The Kraft Heinz Company, working closely with leading retailers and ecommerce websites. She brings to AFN a wealth of expertise and diverse experience in procurement, product supply, materials management, operations, commercialization, supply chain management, financial analysis, and business consulting and development in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry. Rachal earned a BS in Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University.
Ryan is AFN’s co-founder and chairman. When he graduated from Indiana University, Ryan joined the dynamic third-party logistics industry. He fell in love with the daily challenges, the fast pace, and the huge potential for personal and professional growth. Ryan quickly realized that there was a real need in the market for a 3PL that was focused on delivering hands-on, results-oriented service that puts the needs of clients first and foremost. In 2003, Ryan founded AFN to not only meet this need, but to exceed the expectations of our clients.
In addition to leading AFN, Ryan is a dedicated philanthropist, actively supporting the Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois, among other causes. Ryan is also a co-owner of Camp Kawaga, a summer camp for boys located in Minocqua, WI, which he is proud to help guide into a vibrant future.
